Ballina Primary School's Student Council presents a cheque to our local Ballina-Killaloe Senior Citizens group from a recent non-uniform day.  Many thanks to all who supported our fundraiser. 

​We held our very first Intercultural Day in Ballina Primary School on 26th March where our pupils celebrated the wonderful mix of cultures and traditions within our school community. Well done to everyone involved!

​Certificate of Bravery in Water Rescue Celebration. 
 
A special ceremony was held in Ballina Primary School on Thursday 23rd of April to acknowledge the bravery shown by two sixth class boys in assisting with a water rescue in Ballina last Autumn. The two boys, Seán O' Dwyer and Jack McMahon, were presented with a certificate of bravery by Superintendent Liam McGraynor, Inspector Aidan Lonergan, Sergeant Ger Harrington and Garda Rob O' Grady. 

Well done to everyone for taking part in maths week this week. 
From LEGO in the halla, to buddy maths games and Hit the Button competitions it was great to see everyone get involved and having fun. 

Well done to Adam, Ruan and Rudhán who took part in the Analog Robotics Competition in Limerick Racecourse yesterday. The boys had to present a project on Technology in Archaeology and take part in a coding challenge.

Best of luck to all those taking part in Scór this weekend. The school has been a hive of activity this week with music groups and acting groups busy practicing. 

This week 5th class pupils took part in the Analog Devices Robotics Competition for Schools. Pupils were required to build and program a robotic claw, with three pupils picked to represent the school in Limerick in March for the regional finals. The school also received archaeology LEGO sets which we look forward to using. A big thank you to Analog and well done to Adam, Ruan and Ruadhán who will be representing the school in  March and presenting a project on the use of  technology in archaeology. 

Our school community has benefitted greatly in the area of STEM this term thanks to Regeneron, Raheen. In September we received 25 laptops,15 Lego Education Spike Kits and 5 Lego Education Prime Kits from Regeneron. These will be used to enhance our STEM education programme as children in senior classes develop their programming skills through the use of Scratch and coding. The Lego kits allow the children to work collaboratively to develop critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills in a fun way.
Over the midterm break employees from Regeneron constructed a polytunnel at the back of the school and also installed an outdoor classroom. We look forward to gardening and learning outdoors in the coming years. We are so thankful to everyone at Regeneron for their continued support and investment in our school. edit.
