3rd class carried out an experiment to find out the capacity of our lungs. The amount of water that you could blow out of the up-turned water bottle showed how much air was in your lungs.
Rang 4 learning how to change a baby's nappy with Claire, the Roots of Empathy instructor.
They also looked at the environmental impact of disposable nappies and examined the pros and cons of disposable versus reusable nappies and the cost involved. Rang 4 decided that reusable nappies were probably the best for the environment but probably not the most convenient. Well done to all in 4th class for the huge effort they put into their dancing this year.
Rang 4 love science experiments. We decided to investigate how Skittles lose their colour using a variety of variables, and the reaction between Mentos and Pepsi. We even participated in a STEM project where we used jellies and cocktail sticks to build a large structure! 4th Class celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from their favourite books. We love reading in 4th Class and we are working hard to reach our targets for Accelerated Reader. Rang 4 were busy on the netbooks participating in a variety of challenges for Maths Day 2022. The children have been learning tin whistle with Paula, and have been practicing hard during the week too! Here is Pat's Polka. Here are just some of the science and STEM experiments we have carried out this year. They include - floating and sinking - designing and creating a boat - investigating what cleans a coin best - the Skittles rainbow experiment - creating a foaming monster - making lava lamps - light experiments: shadow making, testing materials for transparency and translucency. We also made pancakes on Pancake Tuesday, we had so much fun! |
