Each class used their Outdoor and Adventure skills to complete an Orienteering challenge in the field.
A big Thank You to the Parent's Association and Rody Kennedy and his helpers for a fantastic sports day full of fun and lots of activities.
Rang 3 were testing out their fitness levels with Tracy from TFX Fitness, what a work out!! Tracy certainly put us through our paces but it was fantastic exercise and a beautiful day to get active outdoors in the sun. Have a look at TFX's facebook page to get lots more fitness ideas.
Everyday during lunchtime the Active Flag Committee set up and led playground games with the Junior and Senior Infants. This was to ensure everyone was active and enjoying lunch time.
In Ballina Primary School we believe in a whole school approach to fitness and being active, so much so that even the teachers had their own bootcamp during ASW (Active School Week). A big thanks to Cathal and Michael who organised really good stations.
Juniors and Rang 5, Seniors and Rang 6 had so much fun doing PE with their buddies. Rang 5 and Rang 6 did a fantastic job setting up stations which included hurdles, ladders, bean bag throwing, target practice, hula hoops and lots more, which all children really enjoyed. Juniors, Rang 1 and Rang 5 were very lucky to have Master Damien and his helpers from the Irish Taekwondo Academy in school to teach us some basic moves. We learned beginners poses and forms and we learned how to listen carefully to the master and be respectful. Thanks so much Master Damien for giving up your time to teach us. Have a look at the Facebook page to keep an eye on when the classes are on in the area if you are interested in starting Taekwondo.
We started each morning of Active Week with music in the yard to 'Wake Up Shake Up'. There were lots of requests for songs to get us moving bright and early in the morning!
