Bhain na Ranganna 6 agus 4 úsáid iontach as an gcúirt leadóg láimhe i mBéal an Átha, le linn na míosa. We are very grateful to the Ballina Handball Club, for the kind use of their facilities. We look forward to other classes availing of the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop an appreciation for another of our national Gaelic sports, in the coming months.
We were delighted to host Marguerite Gore from Handball Ireland, to provide CPD training for teachers and S.N.S's in Ballina P.S, on Nov 20th. We had an active fun-filled session, learning new skills and participating in handball activities. Marguerite supplied our staff with valuable learning ideas, to incorporate handball in our P.E and Active Flag plans for the coming year. Míle buíochas ag gabháil léi agus leis an gClub Liathróid Láimhe i mBéal an Átha for use of their facilities.
We are delighted to focus on handball as a new sport in Ballina Primary School. Last May, we held a very successful introduction to the sport, as part of our Active School's Fortnight. We are grateful to local coaches, Paddy Collins and Karen Monaghan, National Handball Title holders, who facilitated the day. We look forward to exciting times ahead as renew our Active Flag over the next two years.
Is mór an onóir nasc a bheith againn, with St Oliver Plunkett National School in Ballina, Co. Mayo. We look forward to engaging with one another in the near future with Active Flag related activities. The distance of 191km between our schools, will be utilised for many whole school activities. Ní neart go cur le chéile!
6th Class pupils are supporting Ballina GAA in their fundraiser for the construction of a ball wall, which will really improve ball handling skills.
Children from 4th-6th completed this survey. 6th class collated the results and represented them on a bar chart that was displayed on the active flag notice board. The local soccer and GAA clubs proved most popular but 15 different local clubs were represented, with activities such as tennis, horse-riding, taekwondo, gymnastics, athletics, swimming, rugby and many more available in the local area. Through doing this survey, many pupils became aware of new clubs that they expressed an interest in.
