October News from Senior Infants

18/10/2018

Seniors have settled in well since beginning in our new classrooms in September. It has been a busy term and we have learned lots. Have a look at some of the things we have been getting up to in the last couple of weeks.

Exploring Autumn

We learned about the season of Autumn. We did lots of work on spotting autumn colours all around us, and we even made some of our own prints using these colours. We enjoyed learning about animals that hibernate and animals that migrate. We especially liked learning all about hedgehogs and squirrels and how they prepare for their winter sleep.

Literacy Groups

We have started our literacy groups over the last number of weeks. We spend time in our reading groups every day, where we practice our reading, writing, sounds, letters and words. We play word games and use reading apps on our iPads.

Aistear

We do Aistear each day in Seniors, where we explore many different themes and learn about different topics. For September, we spent time learning all about school. We even created our own schools and pretended to be different people involved in our school community!

In the run up to Halloween, we have started exploring all things 'scary' and 'spooky'! Have a look at our Aistear stations below to see what we have been learning about. *Click on the picture to learn more about it!*
